Part-time After School Care Pedagogical Worker

ISA is looking for a Pedagogical After School Care worker for ISA's wonderful After School Care program. ISA values inquiry-based, student-centered learning aimed to empower and inspire students to question, make connections and reflect. Due to the nature of this role, we can only accept applications from local residents.

In this role, you will be responsible for working within the 3-7-year-old children's group or the 8-11-year-old children’s group. The working hours would be 5 days a week, from 15:00-18:30 pm. During the school holidays the working hours are longer.

 

Tasks

• Oversee children;

• Taking care of children;

• Exchanging information about children and activities with colleagues and parents;

• Keep spaces and equipment ready for use;

• Assure expertise via professional development.

 

Responsibilities

• Supervising children, both in groups and individually;

• Creating a situation within the group in which children feel safe and encouraged;

children to develop further by means of the implementation of the pedagogical policy plan;

• Overseeing children in the daily activities;

• Taking care of the daily care needs of the children;

• Holistic care for ISA children directly from school, including food preparation and taking and collecting children from on-site after-school activities;

• Keeping track of the development of children and reporting/informing the coordinator about this;

• Informing parents/carers about the state of affairs within the group upon introduction;

• Ensuring good contact with parents/carers and informing them about specific

points for attention and specifics of the children cared for;

• Agree with colleagues about the daily schedule and the division of the work and ensure

good cooperation and good transfer;

• Participate in work meetings;

• Carrying out light household activities in the group and cooperating with the coordinator, and jointly arranging purchasing supplies and maintaining good hygiene and good condition of the inventory;

• Experience with working with children eg creché, summer camps, after-school activities, school teaching assistant or substitute teacher;

 • Preferably with an area of interest such as science, art, or sports.

 

Job Requirements

• Child care qualifications (at least SPW 3 or comparable English equivalent CACHE level 2 or higher);

• Pedagogical knowledge;

• Knowledge of and insight into group dynamic processes;

• Knowledge of the applicable hygiene and safety requirements;

• Knowledge of a child's developmental stages.
